Our New Name

You may remember that we were recently involved in a dispute with Facebook concerning the name of a one-touch photo-sharing app that Instagram released by the name of Bolt.

Well, we’re happy to announce that we've amicably resolved our differences and have transferred our rights to the Bolt name and trademark to Facebook. However, this of course means we'll need a new name going forward.

Today, we’re excited to reveal that our new name is Charge. And here's our new logo:

We chose the name from a long list of more than 90 options we brainstormed as a team, including Echo, Blitz, Glint, Knell, Pronk, Scour, and Fork. If you like one of those better, please be courteous and keep it to yourself.

You'll see our new brand on the web at https://charge.co. And in accordance with the name change we’ll also be deprecating our existing Bolt app with an eye towards re-releasing it under the Charge brand in the near future. You can give us an email address here to be notified when that happens.

Most exciting of all, you'll find a new messaging app which we've released today in public beta on iOS, Android and web.

The app is a work-in-progress, and there's lots more to do. But we're excited to share with you what we've been working on for the past few months, and we'll soon be rolling out a series of new features including location sharing and GIF support.

We’ll have more regular updates for you now that our name has changed, and we’re looking forward to some very exciting product developments over the summer so stay tuned.

Cheers,
The Charge Team
